R. Ryan McMath

Before joining The Comp Firm, R. Ryan McMath practiced in Workers’ Compensation for over 12 years.

He has fought for injured workers’ benefits for almost the last decade while also managing two offices of a large applicant-sided law firm.  Before that, he worked at a workers’ compensation defense firm, and so he understands the priorities of an employer and their insurance company.

He has also worked as a solo practitioner in civil and criminal law, including trial work, and as a prosecutor for the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office where he tried many jury cases to verdict.

He graduated Santa Clara School of Law after receiving the CALI award for advocacy and winning the Russell J. Galloway Moot Court Competition, while also taking Best Oral Advocate honors, and was selected by the law school to represent them in several trial and moot court competitions.

Mr. McMath has lived and worked on the Coast, in the South Bay, and in the Central Valley.

He handles cases at Appeals Boards in those locations, primarily Salinas and San Jose, but Fresno and SLO as well, and on occasion appears in Oakland and San Francisco.
